The program of industry-academia partnership was launched on April 2 and in the future, the professional and compound service teams of Wenzao will reside at the “Asian Art & Culture Museum”, the Southern Branch of National Palace Museum to provide services including translation, interpreting, cultural activities, media marketing, display design, development of cultural/creative commodities and education promotion etc. This is an initial collaboration of the Museum with domestic academia.

The delegation led by President, Shieu-ming Chou, D.S.N, Vide President for Administrative Affairs, Kuo-tai Chen, Ph.D., Vide President for Student Affairs, Ching-jun Cheng, Ph.D., and other superintendents visited the Director of Museum, Dr. Feng Ming-chu, Deputy Director, Ho Chuan-hsing and Secretary-General, Chen Huang-hsin. A collaborative agreement was signed. The Director of Museum, Dr. Feng anticipated that the collaboration with academia in southern region might achieve the educational function and the President Chou stated that the Museum honors Wenzao with the partnership and students could contribute to the society.

This year is the 90th anniversary of the Museum; the program brings opportunities to Wenzao students so that they can practice what they have learned at Museum and it is the first step of their career development before starting their professions. Two projects of internship are planned, i.e. “promotion of cultural relics and activities” implemented by Lee Yu-hung, Assistant Professor of Dept. of Communication Arts for media and activities and “promotion of foreign language proficiency and education” carried out by Tu Chien-yi, Assistant Professor of Dept. of Spanish for students’ training. Furthermore, Office of Research & Development is in charge of resources integration. The interns are selected students of higher grades in the 5-year college.

Asian Art & Culture Museum, the Southern Branch of National Palace Museum, is situated in Taibao City, Jiayi County and the entire area is about 68 hectares; it was opened on Dec. 28. The facilities include multimedia display hall, permanent exhibition hall (history of Jiayi, Buddhism, textiles, ceramics, tea culture etc.), specific exhibition hall, library and children’s center. It is the first Green & Intelligent Building among Asian museums. It is estimated that more than one million visitors annually could be anticipated and local industry and tourism well developed.
