The 2014 Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages commencement was held on June 21st, 2014. This year, in order to allow more parents get into the auditorium to witness the ceremony, the commencement was divided into four sections for the first time: Five-year Junior College Departments, College of European and Asian Languages, College of English and International Studies and College of Creative Industries, then Division of Continuing Education. There were 1535 graduates in total. The graduates bid farewell to each other and each of them is ready to start a whole new page of their lives.

During the commencement this year, there were two special awards. First, Wen-Yen Zheng, class of 1993 of German Department (manager of United Steel Cooperation and chairman of United Steel Global Trading Cooperation), was awarded the 2014 Wenzao Distinguished Alumni Award. Second, Li-Shan Zheng, the undergraduate of English Department (chair professor of Linguistics Department in Leiden University), was awarded the Honorary Alumni Award. The awarded alumni were also invited to share their own struggling experiences to encourage all graduates. In addition, Xian-Hui Liu (vice president of Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau), Shih-Yan Tsai (secretary general of Global Talentrepreneur Innovation and Collaboration) and Chia-Hsun Guo (driver of Taiwan High-Speed Railway) were welcomed as keynote speakers in different commencement to encourage graduates to work hard and achieve their dream.

When President Lin made a speech during the commencement for Five-Year Junior College Departments, she first expressed gratitude to the parents. Meanwhile, she also presented three things to newly graduates as gifts - love, honor and courage. President Lin said, “Love can make your life vital. Honor can lead to remarkable achievements. Moreover, courage can make people smile to exceed the challenges and make dreams come true.” Eventually, she hoped all graduates to love the world with the spirit of Ursuline School – “serviam”, which means that I am willing to service others.

The chairman of Wenzao, Dun-He Yang, was invited to deliver a speech on behalf of the Board of Directors. He congratulated all graduates and encouraged them to keep learning during their lives to achieve brilliant success. Chairman Yan emphasized that students are the main subject of school and teachers are the soul of school; in addition, parents are the spiritual support of students. Because of great efforts from teachers and students, Wenzao can stay at the top in Southern Taiwan. Finally, Chairman Yang encouraged graduates to turn what they have learned into action and integrate the life goal with society.
