     The mass of inauguration and thanksgiving ceremony was hosted by the Most Reverend Peter Liu Cheng-chung, the Archbishop of Kaohsiung for the 12th President, Shieu-ming Chou, DSN on Feb. 5, 2015. Nearly 500 distinguished guests have participated in this ritual and prayed together: there was Si-Ling Lin, Deputy Minister of the MOE, members of the Board of Trustees of Wenzao, Roman Union of the Order of St. Ursuline, the Christian Service Community, members of National Development & Female Leadership Program, academic and medical personnel etc.

     The Most Reverend Peter Liu preached a sermon and anticipated that as Wenzao is a Catholic school, President Chou would spread the seeds of faith and truth, so that abundant crops could be harvested. Based on belief and prayer, as well as following God’s guidance, truth is found in daily life, the call of God may be heard and peace achieved among the Trinitas and us.

     In the presidential handover ceremony, Chairperson Yang explained the process of the selection and expected that President Chou will conform to the humanistic tradition of the Ursuline education and lead the School accordingly. He also showed gratitude to Acting President Tsai for his efficient management and accomplishments in regard to the MOE evaluation.

     President Chou vowed to be fully responsible for school matters and collaborate with all faculty, staff and students with the help of God, as well as the supervision of the Board of Trustees. Students of Wenzao will love to devote themselves to communities and society with the attitude described in the School Motto: “Revere the Divine, Love the Human”. She appreciated the opportunity given by the School, which also changed her life. She stressed that she will be subservient to the Serviam of St. Angela with a full heart based on God’s will. Like a piazza, she will be open to everyone and tolerant to all events.

     President Chou listened to reports from each office after the inauguration. She is impressed by the responsible attitude of all faculty and staff. She said Wenzao University is currently achieving nearly 90 points, and that her mission is to lead the School to achieve a grade of 100. While this is a difficult challenge, she will try her best. The competition is keen, but fortunately by the grace of God, the School can accomplish the assignment. With Wenzao as a big family, all of us will be more passionate, happier, study harder, become better educated and devote ourselves to society; it will be a place full of honor, patience and love.

     President Chou is a Catholic and has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Wenzao since May 3, 2007. She has been assigned as President of National Taichung Nursing College and Deputy President of National Taichung University of Science & Technology. She received awards many times due to her numerous administrative experiences. The awards include the 3rd Class Professional Education-Culture Medal, 30-year Senior Nursing Personnel awarded by Health Bureau and Outstanding Nursing Personnel of Taiwan Nurses Association, 2010. Her academic specialties involve life education, caring of life and death, university management, nursing administration, quality management, relationship between the sexes, career plan, public relations and service leadership etc.
