A dual-degree program was launched between Wenzao’s Dept. of German and Constance University of Applied Sciences last year, and Prof. Dr. Jin-yang Zhu recently came to Wenzao for the interviews. Outstanding students were chosen, and they are planning to go to Germany this Sept.
Wenzao is the first university in Taiwan to engage in German language collaboration with a university in Germany; this dual-degree program starts in the 2015 academic year. Prof. Dr. Jin-yang Zhu was welcome by the school President, Shieu-ming Chou, D.S.N., the dean of College of European and Asian Languages, Dr. Chang, Shoou-huey and chairperson, Department of German, Dr. Chang, Chia-pin. The advantages are not only for students to elevate their language proficiency, but also in focusing on vocational education and academia-industry cooperation.
Students in this program aim to study in the Dept. of “German Economy & Tourism Management”; beyond the required qualifications, they will have to pass written tests and interviews. The University plans to recruit 30 students from all over the world, including two students from Wenzao. In order to help students of the Dept. of German to become familiar with the selection process, a 2-week intensive training session was held during winter holidays; many students were attracted to it.
Constance University of Applied Sciences is situated in Southern Germany, next to the borders of Switzerland and Austria. The Rhine River is flowing around and the Bodensee is also among these areas. In the future, students of Wenzao will be able to study in the Dept. of “German Economy & Tourism Management” without paying tuition. This cross-country academic collaboration helps students with outstanding performance to acquire two degrees in a short time; consequently, their career development will be more competitive.
