Opening Ceremony Speeches from President Shieu-ming Chou, D.S.N.
for the 35th Sports Day of Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages
Good morning everyone!
First of all, I would like to thank the faculties, staffs and students for all of their enthusiasm, hard work and preparation. Wenzao’s 50th anniversary just past last year and it is still an important time for our school. We appreciate your continued efforts.
We greatly look forward to today and I am sure we will see some fantastic sporting events. It is said that people with healthy bodies, tend to also be sound in spirit and are therefore happier. These days, many universities do not maintain the Sports Day tradition. It is a great tradition and brings our students a great deal of joy. However, Wenzao has celebrated this day for decades. It is part of our school’s very foundation and a source of great pride. We hope to provide students a holistic education, by balancing academics with physical education. It is something I also greatly believe in and hope that our school will continue to develop.
Sports teach teamwork and in the future students will need to exhibit this kind of teamwork in the workplace. Therefore, it doesn’t matter if a team wins or loses, you should all be proud, if you worked as a team.
I hope today will be one of great fun and happiness for our teachers and students. I hope you all take with you exciting and lasting memories. I wish you all success in today’s events. I would also like to thank all our guests for coming today and wish you all the best.
God bless you all!
Closing Ceremony Speeches from President Shieu-ming Chou, D.S.N.
for the 35th Sports Day of Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages
Dear students and faculties:
This year"s Sports Day is successfully concluded. This was also Wenzao’s first sports day since its fiftieth anniversary. It was carried out today, just as it has been done from the very beginning. It is our ambition to continue this tradition into the future.
It was very exciting watching all your great efforts. I witnessed great, strong competitiveness throughout the day. This fully demonstrates our students’ harmonious spirit and was wonderful to see so many people not only being so positive and cheerful, but also being tremendously proactive. They were always challenging themselves and put in a strong fighting spirit. Throughout the day, I was truly moved by all our students.
Today, you all cheered for each other until you lost your voices. You all spent the day together, supporting your friends and classmates. It was a sports field full of joy and laughter. I feel so proud of everyone’s performance and how they cheered each other on. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
However, none of this could have been possible without our physical education teachers. They have put in days of hard work preparing for this event. They did everything from arranging the event, to training and mentoring the athletes. As we can see from the day’s great success, they put in a great deal of work and had it so carefully planned out. Sports venues were beautifully prepared and the students were well trained.

Due to everyone’s efforts and participation it has been an unforgettable experience and I hope everyone takes away some wonderful memories. You had an enjoyable experience and not just found pleasure in winning. Victory comes from striving to do your best and success is about how you carry out the process. You will always take with you as you move forward in life.
Finally, thank you all again and may you be blessed with happiness and joy! God bless!
