【Press release by the Office of Public Relations】Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages sanitized the entire campus several times before the semester began and installed three infrared thermal imaging cameras at the front and back gates and the entrance to the dormitory, respectively, for faculty and students to return to the campus for a new semester. All faculty and students are required to have their body temperature taken before entering the campus. Four large canopy tents are also set up on campus to provide additional locations for eating outside and doing outdoor learning activities in order to prevent indoor infection clusters.

President Margaret Mei-Hua Chen of Wenzao led level I executives and prevention staff to supervise the temperature check process and guide students to enter the campus in person on the first day of return. Students are required to wear masks to enter classrooms. Designated staff members go around the campus to make sure that every student follows the mask wearing rule. It is worth mentioning that staff members of the Wenzao Student Union actively support the preventive measures. They volunteer to inspect the campus in their free time and guide students to line up for temperature check. They help Wenzao to complete the protection procedures. Preventing COVID-19 requires everyone to take part.

Students are cooperative to fulfill the preventive requirements. President Si-Xian Wu of the Students Council said, “A number of entrances are closed to enhance access control. Although it is inconvenient to enter the campus through the front or back gate only, students accept the special measure during this challenging time. It is pleasant to see many teachers and administrative staff reminding us to wear masks, wash hands frequently, and keep a safe distance from others all day long.” She also complimented Wenzao on providing additional outdoor eating areas for students to have lunch more safely. A student of the Department of Spanish, Ruo-Xun Wu, indicated that the longest winter vacation finally ended and almost everyone wears a mask which is necessary for COVID-19 prevention.

Wenzao held an emergency response meeting during the Lunar New Year holiday and purchased protective supplies, such as alcohol, bleach solution, masks, forehead thermometers and ear thermometers. Routes for people and vehicles are separated and the underground parking lot of the dormitory is closed to fully comply with the temperature check rule before entering the campus. Wooden panels and mesh stands are installed for smaller entrances to prohibit unauthorized access. All faculty and students must enter the campus through the designated entrance and pass a temperature check before entry. Preventative actions are expected to be taken in a thorough manner in order to provide the safest environment for faculty and students. This is also a good opportunity to assess university-wide cooperation.
